조희수는 울산과학기술원에서 생명과학과를 졸업한 후 서울대학교 과학사 및 과학철학 협동과정에서 현대 한국 산부인과에서 산전 초음파 진단이 보급되는 과정과 초음파 진단 기술이 한국 여성들의 임신 경험에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지에 관한 연구로 석사 학위를 받았다. 현재는 서울대학교 과학학과에서 한국에서 어린이 예방접종의 제도화 과정에 관한 학위 논문을 준비하고 있으며, 한국 현대 보건의료의 역사를 폭넓게 공부하며 보건의료 영역에서 기술이 도입, 정착, 실행되는 과정에서 의사, 간호사, 환자와 같은 행위자들의 역할에 관심을 두고 있다.

Heesoo Cho is a PhD candidate in the Department of Science Studies at Seoul National University, Korea. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Heesoo Cho received a Master’s degree in the Program in History and Philosophy of Science at Seoul National University, with a thesis titled “Institutionalizing Ultrasonography, Transforming Pregnancy: Dissemination of Prenatal Ultrasonography in Korean Obstetrics, 1960s-1990s.” Now her research interest is how vaccination for children has been instituted in modern Korea. She is interested in the effect of three areas in the vaccination program of South Korea: governmental healthcare policies, private medical care, and non-medical actors(schools and parents). She sees the program as a window for critical reflection on South Korea's healthcare system, which encompasses a blend of both public and private sectors. Her other projects include the roles of women actors(doctors, nurses, medical practitioners, pregnant women, etc) in the history of medicine in contemporary South Korea.
